Saints Battle Back but Fall to Calumet 82–71
Notre Dame, Ind. — Despite a strong second-half surge, the Holy Cross College men's basketball team fell 82–71 to Calumet on Saturday afternoon inside McKenna Arena.
The Saints found themselves in an early deficit as Calumet shot a blistering 58.6% from the field in the opening half, allowing the visitors to build a 41–28 halftime lead. Holy Cross responded with urgency out of the break, outscoring Calumet 43–41 in the second half behind improved ball movement and efficiency from beyond the arc, but the early gap proved too much to erase.
AJ Roseman paced the Saints offensively, finishing with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in a strong all-around performance. Jayden Sanders added 19 points of his own while shooting 8-for-14 from the floor and distributing 6 assists. Beau Barhams contributed 8 points and a team-high 9 rebounds, while Donovan Waleskowski and Davide Brembilla each chipped in 7 points.
The Saints shot 48.2% from the field and an impressive 50% from three, keeping themselves within striking distance throughout the second half. Holy Cross also received 11 points from the bench, led by steady contributions from Callaghan Weatherspoon and Joe Kelly.
Holy Cross cut the deficit to single digits multiple times down the stretch, including within 10 in the final minute after a late bucket, but Calumet closed out the game at the free-throw line to secure the win.
With the loss, Holy Cross moves to 4–4 on the season and 0–2 in conference play.
The Saints will look to bounce back at home on Tuesday November 25th against Governors State. Tipoff is set for 7:30PM
