Saints Battle on the Road but Fall 78–65 to St. Francis (IL)
The Holy Cross College men's basketball team put together a strong offensive effort on Saturday but came up short on the road, falling 78–65 in conference play.
The Saints were led by Joey Garwood, who delivered an impressive 22-point performance on 8–13 shooting while going a perfect 5–5 from the free-throw line. Jayden Sanders continued his consistent play with 14 points and 7 rebounds, logging a team-high 36 minutes.
Donovan Waleskowski added 9 points, while freshman guard Beau Barhams contributed across the stat sheet with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Off the bench, Callaghan Weatherspoon supplied 6 points, and Donovan Mukes added 4 points to help spark the second unit.
Holy Cross finished the night shooting 45.8% from the field and an efficient 90% from the free-throw line. The Saints scored 38 points in the paint, showing their ability to attack the rim and generate quality looks inside. Defensively, the team collected 26 rebounds and produced 6 steals.
Despite a competitive second half and strong interior scoring, Holy Cross was unable to erase the early deficit but continued to show improvement throughout the matchup.
The Saints will return to action next week as they look to rebound and continue building momentum in CCAC play againdt IUSB on Saturday December 13th away. Tipoff is set for 3:00PM.
