Joey Garwood Honored for Joining 1,000-Point Club

Joey Garwood, a junior guard, etched his name into the record books this season, surpassing the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career on January 14, 2026, against St. Xavier right here inside McKenna Arena. He was officially honored with the commemorative game ball in front of the home crowd last night, celebrating a milestone that reflects years of dedication and success on the court.

A native of Elkhart, Indiana, and Penn High School graduate, Garwood has developed into one of the most consistent and efficient scorers throughout his collegiate journey.

He began his career at Concordia University Ann Arbor during the 2023-24 season, making an immediate impact as a freshman. Garwood started 23 games and totaled 371 points while shooting over 45% from the field and an impressive 43.5% from three-point range.

Garwood elevated his performance even further in his sophomore campaign here at Holy Cross College, appearing in 27 games with 23 starts and pouring in 470 points. He shot nearly 46% from the floor, connected on 68 three-pointers at a 42.2% clip, and knocked down over 81% of his free throws.

The 2025-26 season has showcased yet another leap in his game. Through just 13 games, Garwood has already scored 285 points while shooting a remarkable 54.4% from the field, 44.6% from beyond the arc, and 87.3% from the free throw line.

Known for his ability to score at all three levels, Garwood's dedication, growth, and relentless work ethic have helped him reach one of college basketball's most respected milestones. With plenty of basketball still ahead of him, this achievement is not only a celebration of what he has accomplished, but a sign that his story is far from finished.
