Saints Come Up Short in Road Battle at Trinity Christian
The Holy Cross men's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday night, dropping a conference contest to Trinity Christian College.
The Saints competed from the opening tip, trading baskets early and working to establish rhythm on the offensive end. Callaghan Weatherspoon paced Holy Cross throughout the night, finishing with a team-high 19 points, including 5 three-pointers. He added 7 rebounds and 5 assists, impacting the game in multiple areas.
Jayden Sanders followed with 17 points and 6 rebounds, providing a strong presence inside and attacking the rim. Holy Cross saw contributions across the lineup as they battled on the boards and looked to generate momentum in transition.
Despite solid offensive stretches and timely shot-making from beyond the arc, the Saints were unable to slow Trinity Christian's scoring runs. The home team capitalized on key possessions in the middle portions of the game to create separation, forcing Holy Cross to play from behind. The Saints continued to compete down the stretch, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Holy Cross will return home this Saturday for their final regular-season game at McKenna Arena. The afternoon will mark Senior Day as the Saints honor their seniors prior to tipoff. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
