Politte Earns POW Honors
Chicago, Ill. - Men's golfer Matthew Politte (St. Louis, MO.) has claimed the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honor for the week ending April 30, it was announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Politte, a freshman, won individual honors at the CCAC Conference Championship. The two-day, three-round tournament was played at Cinder Ridge Golf Course in Wilmington, Illinois, and featured 10 men's golf teams. A total of 44 individuals competed in the event.
Politte registered scores of 84, 73, 73 for a total of 230 on the score card. At the end of the third round, he was tied for first with Jared Tjelmeland of Roosevelt University. Politte would come away with the championship after a two-hole playoff.
Behind Politte, the Holy Cross College men's golf team placed 2nd in the tournament.
With his tournament championship, Matthew Politte qualifies for the 2023 NAIA Men's Golf National Tournament. The National Tournament will be held at Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona on May 16-19. Check back with HCSaints.com for tournament details.
