Saints Stay Undefeated in Conference with 2–1 Win Over St. Ambrose

Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College men's soccer team continued their strong start to conference play with a 2–1 victory over St. Ambrose University on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. The win keeps the Saints undefeated in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action, improving to 3-0 in the league and 6–4 overall.

The Saints dominated the offensive tempo from the start, outshooting the Bees 22–10 on the day. Holy Cross found the breakthrough in the 29th minute when Anthony Cruz buried a well-placed strike off a setup from Nathan Sanchez, giving the Saints an early 1–0 lead.

St. Ambrose managed to equalize early in the second half via a penalty kick in the 50th minute, but Holy Cross answered quickly. Just three minutes later, Daniel Alfaro converted a penalty of his own to restore the Saints' advantage — a lead they would not relinquish.

Despite multiple late pushes from the Bees, the Saints' defense held strong behind goalkeeper Isaias Rubio, who recorded 6 saves to secure the win. Holy Cross also maintained composure through a physical second half that saw several yellow cards and a red card to a St. Ambrose defender.

Man of the Match honors went to Anthony Cruz, whose opening goal and constant attacking presence fueled the Saints' offensive rhythm throughout the match.

The Saints will look to extend their unbeaten conference run as they prepare for their next CCAC matchup when they travel to Governors State on Wednesday October 8th. Kickoff is set for 2PM
