Saints Remain Undefeated in Conference Play with 4–3 Win Over St. Francis

Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College men's soccer team continued their unbeaten run in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play with a 4–3 victory over the University of St. Francis on Saturday evening.

The match started with back-and-forth intensity as St. Francis opened the scoring in the 25th minute. The Saints quickly responded when Xavier Fox found the back of the net off an assist from Anthony Panayiotou to even the score at 1–1. The Fighting Saints of St. Francis regained the lead minutes later, holding a 2–1 advantage heading into halftime.

The second half saw a strong offensive push from Holy Cross. Fox tallied his second goal of the night in the 53rd minute, this time assisted by Nathan Sanchez, to bring the game level once again. Just seven minutes later, Nikolas Panayiotou capitalized on a pass from Daniel Alfaro to give Holy Cross its first lead of the match. The Saints extended their advantage in the 64th minute when Sandro Lopez-Torres converted off another assist from Sanchez.

Despite a late goal from St. Francis in the 84th minute, the Saints held firm defensively to close out the 4–3 win.

Holy Cross outshot St. Francis 25–15, including 14 shots on goal. Goalkeepers Logan Kelly and Isaias Rubio combined for four saves in the victory.
