Saints Earn Road Draw to Close Regular Season, Secure 4th Place in CCAC Standings
Chicago, Ill. — The Holy Cross College men's soccer team closed out the CCAC regular season with a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Saint Xavier on Saturday afternoon. With the result, the Saints finish 4th in the CCAC standings and will officially host a first-round playoff match on Wednesday night against 5th-place Judson University.
The Saints relied on a standout performance from goalkeeper Logan Kelly, who kept Holy Cross in the match from start to finish. Kelly recorded eight saves on the day, turning away multiple high-quality Cougar chances to secure his clean sheet. Despite being outshot 16–4, Holy Cross stayed organized defensively and prevented Saint Xavier from breaking through.
Holy Cross created its best looks of the afternoon late in the first half, highlighted by a shot on frame from Daniel Alfaro and a blocked attempt moments later from Aidan Medina. The Saints continued to contain pressure throughout the second half, with the back line—anchored by Cesar Vela, Sandro Lopez-Torres, and Nathan Sanchez—delivering key clearances in critical moments.
Both teams played with playoff urgency, combining for 20 fouls in a tightly contested match. The Saints earned one corner opportunity while the Cougars finished with two.
Holy Cross now shifts its focus to postseason play, returning home to Saints Field this Wednesday November 5th at 7:00 PM, where they will host Judson in the CCAC Quarterfinals. With momentum on the defensive end and home-field advantage secured, the Saints look to carry this form into the conference tournament.
