Saints Men’s Tennis Earns National Recognition with Four ITA Rankings
November 13 — Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College men's tennis program has reached a massive milestone, earning multiple honors in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National and Regional Rankings released on November 13. Five Saints were recognized across singles and doubles play, marking one of the most decorated ranking releases in program history.
National Rankings consist of the top 50 singles rankings and the top 25 doubles rankings. Regional Rankings consist of the Top 20 singles rankings and the top 10 doubles rankings. Regional Rankings represent the Central, East, South, and West Regions.
Headlining the achievements is Oscar Wai, who continues to shine on the national stage. Wai secured the No. 6 national singles ranking and the No. 2 singles position in the ITA Midwest Regional Rankings, affirming his place among the top collegiate players in the country.
Joining him in the national singles rankings are teammates Matthew Jezyk, coming in at No. 45, and Luca McManus, right behind him at No. 46. Both athletes also earned regional recognition, as Jezyk was ranked No. 12 and McManus No. 13 in the Midwest.
In doubles action, the Saints once again demonstrated their depth and chemistry. The duo of McManus and Wai earned a prestigious No. 8 national ranking, along with a No. 2 regional ranking, solidifying themselves as one of the premier pairs in collegiate tennis. The pair of Jezyk and Thomas Friesen also made a strong regional showing, landing at No. 9 in Midwest doubles.
Friesen added to his season by picking up a No. 18 regional singles ranking, giving Holy Cross a total of four players represented in the top 20 of the Midwest.
These recognitions reflect the rising strength, depth, and competitive drive of the Holy Cross men's tennis program. With multiple nationally ranked players and strong regional standing across the board, the Saints have set the tone for an exciting season ahead.
