Saints Earn 1-0 Conference Victory Over St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Holy Cross College women's soccer team battled to a hard-fought 1-0 win over St. Ambrose University on Saturday afternoon, picking up their second straight conference victory.

After a scoreless first half, the Saints broke through in the 64th minute when Frances Parks found the back of the net with an unassisted strike to give Holy Cross the lead. From there, the Saints leaned on their defense and outstanding goalkeeping to secure the result.

Freshman goalkeeper Janiah Juarez was also a difference-maker during this match, recording a remarkable 10 saves to earn the clean sheet. St. Ambrose outshot Holy Cross 19-6, but Juarez and the backline stood tall under constant pressure.

With the win, Holy Cross improves to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while St. Ambrose drops to 2-5-1 on the season.

The Saints return to action next week as they continue conference play on Saturday September 27th when they take on Olivet Nazarene. Kickoff is set for 7:00PM!
