Saints Battle to Scoreless Draw with Olivet Nazarene
Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College women's soccer team fought to a hard-earned 0-0 draw against Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. With the result, the Saints move to 3-4-1 overall and remain unbeaten in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play at 2-0-1.
It was a defensive showdown from start to finish, with both teams struggling to find the breakthrough. Goalkeeper Janiah Juarez anchored the Saints' defense with an outstanding performance, recording 10 saves to preserve the shutout. Holy Cross also benefited from key defensive efforts by Sofia Brodar and Abigail Fouts, who each came up with crucial clearances to deny Olivet chances inside the box.
The Saints created a few scoring opportunities of their own, registering three shots on goal, including looks from Frances Parks and Annabella Alfreda, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Despite being outshot 15-3, Holy Cross showed grit and resilience to keep the match level, fending off six corner kicks and a late second-half surge from Olivet.
The Saints return to action next week as they continue CCAC play, looking to build on their unbeaten conference run. The Saints will play at home against St. Francis (IL) on Wednesday October 1st, kickoff is set for 7:00PM
