CROWN POINT, Ind. — The Holy Cross College women's soccer team controlled every aspect of play in a 2-0 win over Governors State on Tuesday evening.
The Saints struck early when Frances Parks converted a penalty kick in the 8th minute to give Holy Cross the lead. Parks later assisted Mia Garatoni in the 76th minute, sealing the match with a composed finish inside the box.
Holy Cross outshot Governors State 38–3, forcing the opposing keeper to make 19 saves. Parks led the way offensively with eight shots, including six on target, while Garatoni and Miriam Iturriaga-Sanchez each added multiple quality chances.
Defensively, the Saints were nearly perfect, allowing just three total shots and one on goal. Goalkeeper Montserrat Alvarez Torres made one save to record the shutout.
With the win, Holy Cross adds another strong performance to to record the shutout, leaving the Saints with a 7-5-2 record overall and a 6-1-2 record in conference.
The Saints will return home next as they look to continue their winning momentum in conference action on October 25th against IUSB. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
