Saints Dominate Mount Mary in First-Ever Meeting

Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College women's soccer team earned a commanding 5–0 victory over Mount Mary University Tuesday night at Saints Field. This marked the first-ever matchup between the two programs, as Mount Mary joined the conference this season.

The Saints controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting the Blue Angels 45–0 and earning 11 corner kicks while holding their opponent without any.

Miriam Iturriaga-Sanchez opened the scoring in the 29th minute off an assist from Quinn Pankiewicz. Just eight minutes later, Iturriaga-Sanchez returned the favor, setting up Sofia Brodar to give Holy Cross a 2–0 lead at halftime.

The Saints continued their dominance in the second half as Mia Garatoni netted a goal in the 48th minute, assisted by Annabella Alfreda. Frances Parks followed up with a successful penalty kick in the 52nd minute, and Erika Perez capped the scoring in the 67th minute off a feed from Garatoni.

Goalkeeper Montserrat Alvarez recorded a clean sheet, as Mount Mary failed to register a shot on goal.

With the win, Holy Cross improves to 6–5–1 overall and 5–1–1 in conference play.

The Saints will look to continue their winning streak as they travel to Saint Xavier on Saturday October 11th. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM
