Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College women's soccer team opened conference play in thrilling fashion on Wednesday night, defeating Judson University 3-2 at Saints Field.
The Saints jumped ahead early when Frances Parks scored in the 13th minute off an assist from Brianna Munoz. Judson answered later in the half to tie the match at 1-1 heading into the break.
Holy Cross wasted little time regaining momentum in the second half. Just 2 minutes after the restart, Parks struck again, this time set up by Erika Perez, to put the Saints back on top. In the 71st minute, Quinn Pankiewicz extended the lead to 3-1 after finishing a pass from Miriam Iturriaga-Sanchez.
Judson pulled one back in the 86th minute, but the Saints defense and goalkeeper Janiah Juarez, who tallied 9 saves on the night, held strong to secure the victory.
With the win, Holy Cross improves to 2-4 overall and conference play at 1-0.
The Saints will look to continue their winning streak in conference play when they travel to St. Ambrose on Saturday September 20th. Kickoff is set for 3:00PM!
